The botanical name is Helianthus. The Greek word "helios" means sun and "anthos" means flower. It is aptly named after the sun which it resembles.

Wow, it has been a long time since Sunflower Girl has checked in with everyone. Sunflower Girl has had a lot of changes take place in her life but she knows that the pain she is going through is a "stepping stone to her spiritual growth". She has been turning to God more. She heard someone say recently that you can "Let go or be dragged". That really hit home for Sunflower Girl because she can relate to trying to do her will and being dragged. Life has been hard and it has been a struggle for Sunflower Girl to trust the process; however God has proven He will take care of her but it is in His time not hers, and it is ultimately His will that will be done, and there isn't anything she can do but the footwork, and then leave the results up to Him. She is feeling afraid right now that things won't be ok, but she has to believe that others believe right now.
Sunflower Girl hopes everyone is having a good year so far. Keep trusting the Lord because He loves you and me.
Sunflower Girl wants to welcome back her friends and family to her journal. Sunflower Girl wanted to wish everyone that celebrates Christmas a very Merry Christmas, and a wonderful New Year...she wants to let everyone know that she isn't able to update her site right now, but as soon as she is able she will. Have a wonderful day, and Sunflower Girl would like to say thank you for stopping by her home on the web.
Sunflower Girl received the following writing in her email this morning, and she really thought everyone could afford to read it because it definitely helped her to write in her journal. Sunflower Girl is glad you stopped by, and she hopes to see you again...if you all would be so kind to sign her guestbook she would really appreciate it.
Positivity Revisited
Keeping A Diary With Purpose
A diary can play many roles. It can be a confidant, a vehicle of self expression, a tool that facilitates clarity of thought, or a repository of dreams. A diary can also be a powerful source of comfort during challenging or traumatic periods. When you record those insights and incidents that clearly demonstrate you are on the right track, you can return to your words days, weeks, or months later and find uniquely soothing reassurance. A diary with a specific purpose can be a good tool for keeping track of experiences before the passage of time can skew your perception of events. It reflects the immediacy of your life and thus provides you with a landmark to return to when you begin to doubt yourself. If doubt does arise, simply open your diary to reaffirm your experiences. The confidence, surety, passion, and bravery you felt in a single moment is preserved, giving you a means to recapture those feelings in any place, at any time.
Your diary serves as a repository of personalized encouragement. Since a diary is, by its very nature, as individual as you are, you should give some thought to the type of diary that will serve you best. A synchronicity-and-connections diary might describe those instances where seemingly random occurrences came together in a meaningful way, propelling you forward. Or you may find strength in the pages of a pride diary that makes note not only of those times you felt proud of yourself but also precisely why you were pleased with your efforts. And a cause-and-effect diary can help you become more decisive by reminding you of all the wise, life-affirming choices you have made. Your diary should be small enough to be readily portable and on hand whenever possible because the faster you put your thoughts down on paper, the more authentic your declarations are apt to be.
Regardless of the type of focused diary you choose to keep, your recollections will create a positive feedback loop that helps you cope with doubt in a constructive way. Reading through your diary when life seems uncertain can show you that your misgivings are unfounded. As you draw consolation from your uplifting words, you will know without a doubt that you are indeed living your purpose and following the path that you committed to before birth.
Sunflower Girl wanted to share this writing with all of you because it is quite interesting, so enjoy!
A drunk man doesn't get that way by just talking about alcohol, or looking at advertisements for liquor. No, he gets drunk by drinking! And the more he drinks the more the alcohol controls him. We say he's "under the influence." Another power takes over which transforms him into someone he was not before. One minute he's nice and quiet, the next he's loud and boisterous. He may even think he's Pavarotti and start to sing. When a police officer stops him and tells him to walk a straight line he can't do it. Why? Because something else is running the show.
And what alcohol is to your body negatively, the Holy Spirit is to your new nature positively. When you're under His control, He makes you walk in ways you wouldn't normally walk, and talk in ways you wouldn't normally talk. That's why, rather than spending our time and energy trying to change, we need to concentrate on being - and staying - filled with God's Spirit. A sober man doesn't have to try and stagger, all he has to do is get drunk; the alcohol will take care of the staggering. Now you see why Paul drew the analogy between someone who's drunk and someone under the Spirit's control.
But a word of caution: those under the influence of the Holy Spirit will not be offensive or rude, self-serving or "show-boating" in an attempt to impress others. No, the Holy Spirit is a gentleman. The power He provides is controlled and channeled towards a life that's not possible by any other means. And that power is available to you today.

Sunflower Girl would like to wish everyone a great day, and share this passage with all of you!
Remember the woman caught in adultery? Jesus stooped down to reach her, stood by her under attack, then sent her home redeemed and refocused. Do you want to be like Him? Go and find people who are hurting, hopeless, and even wrong. When you do, minister to them until they're redeemed, restored and right. That's living unselfishly!

Sunflower Girl welcomes you back to her home on the web; she is glad you are all here. She found the following words in her email this morning, and wanted to share them with all of you. Enjoy!
(1) By making a commitment to grow daily, it won't be long before you begin to see real change.
(2) Value the process more than the product. Certain events may be helpful in making your decision, but it's going through the process that matures you into what God wants you to be.
(3) Don't wait for inspiration. Sometimes you can run on excitement, but most times only commitment will carry you through.
(4) If you're willing to pay now you'll enjoy the rewards later, and those rewards always taste sweeter.
(5) Don't limit God. By focusing on your limitations you magnify them. The God who lives within you is able to do "exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20).
(6) Learn to master your time. Since you can't recover lost time, make every moment count. What difference does a few minutes make? A lot! If you save five minutes each day by streamlining your morning routine, 10 by eliminating things you do to keep from starting your day, five by avoiding talkers or other distractions, and 10 by taking a shorter lunch break - you'll gain an additional 125 hours a year. That's three 40-hour work weeks to use for anything you want. And you can double that by watching 30 minutes less of television each day.
(7) Life is filled with decisive moments when you have to trade one thing for another. Always trade up, not down.
Want to fulfill your God-given assignment? Follow these steps!

Sunflower Girl is having a really tough time today because she has decided to stop her caffiene addiction by remaining abstinent from the drug...she is now going through some mild withdrawals such as tiredness, headache, and neck pain; however, she is going to stick with not doing this drug because it has been causing a lot of havoc in Sunflower Girl's life such as giving her anxiety attacks, making sleep difficult at night, spending money she doesn't have on the drug, being late for appointments because she has to stop at a store to pick up caffeine, and the list goes on.
Please everyone pray for Sunflower Girl...she knows she can remain abstinent from caffeine because she has done it in the past and was clean for more than 7 years.
Thank you all for visiting Sunflower Girl today...May God bless all of you! Have a great afternoon everyone.
